Review of Educated: A Memoir

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Read it or save your time?  WOW.  Lives up to all the hype.  This memoir will blow your mind and invoke a series of intense emotions…mostly shock, outrage, and eventually, some much needed pride. 100 pages in I texted a friend who was reading this at the same time and said “the ignorance of the people in this book is annoying me”.  He responded “the book is supposed to infuriate you”.  Well, job well done!

What’s it about? Tara Westover grew up off the grid in the mountains of Idaho.  One of seven children born to her anti-establishment, inordinately strict Mormon parents, no one in her family had ever seen the inside of a doctor’s office.  Or a school.
